Great audio but small violin
This is a lovely instrument in many respects but please see my final conclusion.
Pro's decent strings, nice build quality, easy set up. Outstanding audio quality through Yamaha box, it makes for a very encouraging playing experience!
The problem: I couldn't work out why my tuning was going off. I really worked on it but then I realised the violin size is smaller than my acoustic 4/4 and literally cramps my left hand position. I visited the London Yamaha centre and checked all the Yamaha silent models including the most expensive and it is the same. This makes the Yamaha unworkable for me since I alternate between silent and acoustic. This is a problem I have found with several electric violins but have subsequently found one other brand that fits the full 4/4 size of my acoustic.
So in conclusion it's a lovely experience (5*) but check carefully to compare size (3*) with your acoustic violin if you intend to use it in the way I wanted to. Hence only 3* overall for me.
