Ultimate TS 100 B Speaker Stands - Great quality with a ´but`...
These stands are for the most superb quality, very solidly built, and the gas-assisted height adjustment feature works excellently allowing me to raise and lower my speakers with one hand. With such a solid build they weigh more than my old stands, but they work so nicely that I don't mind the extra weight. Due to the lateral opening style of the legs its best to nudge the stays for each leg in the same direction before opening out the legs, then everything will glide satisfyingly.
However... here comes the "but"... After some months of careful use I had to swap out the original four wing-bolts and nuts (the ones used to tighten the legs and gas assisted riser) because the threads on the original wing-bolts had only about three thread-turns into the blind nuts and started to strip. This required me to improvise at one gig where I noticed the stand slowly sinking under the weight of my BOSE F1-812 ...this is when I discovered that the wing-bolt threads were stripping... not good! I immediately replaced all four wing-bolts and blind nuts with wing-nuts and bolts instead of the original opposite configuration ...this modification allows the bolt threads to pass all the way through each wing-nut (about 25-30 thread turns) thus making it impossible for the threads to strip. I am now once again very happy with these stands whilst at the same time disappointed with the manufacturer for such a potentially disastrous mistake.
