Wonderful, well built guitar let down by pickups.

For the price, I am not sure a single guitar exists that is better value than the ST-Modern HH. I haven't played the HSS ST-Modern but I imagine they're both very similar in that regard.

The neck looks and feels amazing, the finish on the body doesn't have a single blemish and is pretty unique with the included tortoiseshell pick guard.

The hardware is about as good as you could hope for at this price. The tuners are a tad stiff but considering they are locking I'll let that slide.

I've probably tuned the guitar a handful of times in the few months I've owned it (outside of the occasional out of tune g-string), the guitar would absolutely benefit from nicer, smoother tuners but they aren't a requirement like 99% of guitars in this price bracket.

The only thing I am a bit let down by are the included pickups, the bridge is clear and handles distortion well with the tone all the way up and even rolled back a bit but the neck pickup sounds like toffee wrapped in a molasses soaked blanket.

I suppose the neck pickup can be used with the bridge in the halfway position for some interesting sounds but it's completely useless on it's own as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe a more talented rhythm guitarist or bass player would be able to appreciate the neck pickup but it's just not for me.

But again, considering this entire guitar costs less than a guitar case from most of the bigger brands I can let it slide.

I think a pickup upgrade is something I will be investing in, so if you're someone who isn't really into guitar hardware modifications I'd say spend a bit more and get one of HBs other, more expensive HH 'S' style guitars.

If you're a beginner or just want something fun and cheap to add to your existing guitar collection is a fantastic deal.

This is the kind of beginner guitar that didn't seem possible back in the 90s or early 2000s, how far we've come and hats off to HB for a cheap, fantastic guitar.

Harley benton has outdone themselves

Packed up great. Colour looks so much nicer in person. Pickups sound lovely, never heard these before, but even with coil split its very nice. Neck is smooth, no rough fret ends, truss rod turned and action set down to 1-1.5 and no buzz. Tuners feel very high quality. Overall brilliant guitar, the price is shockingly low for how good it is!
