Beautiful guitar, but sub standard QC
Blakers 06.07.2026
I really wanted to keep this guitar. The top was absolutely stunning, the pickups sounded great, and the Modern features are really good improvements over the Standard. The improved upper fret access, locking tuners, and overall ergonomics make it a more comfortable instrument than the Standard, and I think it's pretty much essential if you spend a lot of time in the upper registers.
Playability was generally excellent and the guitar felt lively and responsive. In terms of sound and features, Gibson has done a lot right with this model.
Unfortunately, the quality control did not meet my expectations for an instrument in this price range. The fretwork on my example was noticeably rough, with scratchy fret ends and a less refined feel than I would expect from a premium guitar. I own a couple of ESP E-II guitars, and the fret finishing is consistently smooth and polished, so this stood out on the Gibson immediately.
For a significantly cheaper guitar, I might have accepted it. At this price point, however, I expected much better attention to detail. Ultimately, I decided to return it.
A beautiful and great sounding guitar with some genuinely useful modern updates, but one that was let down by inconsistent quality control.

Ma déception
Anto luca 02.02.2025
