Great Upgrade for a Laney Cub 10
Aliput Duffwadle 25.03.2016
I bought a Laney Cub 10 to play around the house but couldn't get into the sound as much as I hoped. I decided to swap out the speaker. The Greenback gives the Laney a nice fat middle with a much tighter and cleaner bass than the stock speaker. No, It does not sound like a 12 (even if it thinks it is) but overall I am very happy with it and gets better with time. Very good value for the money and I would buy it again.

PV
Amazing!
Patrik Vidic 20.11.2020
I have bought this speaker just to try it out, without actually needing it and it turned out amazing. Good news: it is an amazing speaker, full stop. Even before it was broken in the sound was amazing. Bad news: it doesn't really respond in the same way 12" Greenback does, it is a 10" speaker so what did you expect, but still recreates the magic of its bigger brother very well.

R
expected more of a Greenback 12" sound in this smaller format
Roar 13.08.2026
If you expect to get the legendary 12" Greenback sound, IMHO you won't find it in this smaller 10" model. The difference is pretty obvious. To my ears, this 10" version sounds thinner and lacks that fat midrange. This gap becomes even more noticeable with overdriven or distorted tones than on clean settings.

I am running a stereo setup - my guitar goes into an ABY switch, splitting into two hybrid amp heads (Joyo Tweedy XL and Joyo Zombie XL). Each head runs into its own cabinet - one with a Celestion VT Junior 10" and the other with this 10" Greenback. While I can dial in a decent sound on both amps using the VT Junior (which isn't perfect either), the 10" Greenback disappoints me in every combination. Honestly, even the budget-friendly Celestion Ten 30 feels more useful to me, at least at lower volumes. Of course, there is always a chance that this speaker simply doesn't pair well with these Joyo heads.

I wanted to achieve a "serious" sound with smaller cabinets, but looking back, I wouldn't do it again. I should have gone straight for the real 12" Celestions. If you do buy the 10" Greenback, my advice is to use a closed-back cabinet as that improved the sound significantly in my case. Also, keep in mind that this speaker requires a relatively long break-in period. Ultimately, my recommendation is to save up for the original 12" Greenback, regardless of the volume you play at.

Good Product

I bought this 10" for a Bassbreaker 007 combo.
I immediatly realized that there was something wrong. The Greenback is a bit darker than the original speaker and has more midrange. Result was not that good. I've ended up going back the the original.
By the way, if you are looking for a speaker that can calm down a bright amp and has a good tight bass response the Greenback is a very good choice.
